My internet connection is 256kbps.
From my PC, my download speed is 32k/sec.

So let's say I'm downloading a file from my PC.
I see the download speed in steady 32k.

When I connect my iPhone to the Wi-Fi, the download speed goes down to 20k or less. I see using some Data Usage apps that the iPhone is receiving a lot of data. That means my iPhone is using +12k to send and receive data (mostly to receive) over the Wi-Fi (it doesn't happen when I'm using Cellular).

In my iPhone, I closed all open apps, turned off Cellular Data (I don’t want to use it), In Fetch New Data Push is Off, and Fetch is set in Manually.

How can I know what Data and/or app is sending / receiving?
Is there anything I can do not to receive too much data?
I only want to send / receive data from open apps.

Thanks!

Do have iCloud backup turned on?Also turn off background refersh for apps in settings>general

If you have Photostream on, your phone will start uploading all the photos you've taken since the last time you were on Wifi automatically. If your upstream pipe is small (very likely if your downstream is only 256kb) this can really clog up your internet connection.

My suggestion is to turn off iCloud backups and photostream until you return to better Wifi.

- No Open Apps
- No Photostream
- Settings > Bluetooth [Off]
- Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data [Off]
- Settings > Cellular > Enable 3G [Off]
- Settings > Notification Center > Include [Empty]
- Settings > General > Siri [Off]
- Settings > General > Spotlight Search [All Unchecked]
- Settings > General > Background App Refresh [Off]
- Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically [Off]
- Settings > Privacy > Locaion Services [Off]
- Settings > iCloud [I deleted my account]
- Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Accounts [MyAccount: Inactive]
- Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data > Push [Off]
- Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data > Fetch [Manually]
- Settings > iTunes & App Store [I deleted my account]
- Settings > iTunes & App Store > Updates [Off]
- Settings > iTunes & App Store > Use Cellular Data [Off]

Today I connected to another wifi with better connection speed, and my iPhone received about 10mb per minute.

It doesnt send data.

And it only happens with WiFi. It doesn't happen with Cellular.
