And wireless file sharing and printing I am excited for iPhone OS 4.0 and iPhone 4th Gen next year!

would you need a 4th gen iPhone coming out this summer to do wifi direct (and/or Bluetooth 3.0)?
Or could the 3GS be software enabled?

Could see this being useful and integrating the concept if not the tech into Bonjour for the upcoming iPads.

Hardware wise the current iPhones could do it just fine. It would be an OS feature. I'm not sure if Apple would support it on all past models though!

Has there been official confirmation that this would be a software update for the iPhone 3G and 3GS i.e. they wouldn't need hardware they haven't got?
