wi-fi help

hey...does anyone know how they can fix this wi-fi problem i have with my iphone. its version 1.1.3 and my phone always connects to wifi hotspots, but the spot it connects to is highlighted in gray...instead the phone uses edge network when in fact it should be using the wifi connection. i cant connect to the itunes store because it says im not connected to the wifi network. basically wifi has never worked on my phone

Mine is doing the same thing. I am searching and have tried a few things but still no luck.. So any help would be great!

Mine is not hacked or anything.
