I'd really appreciate to be able to put settings buttons on the home screen indicating the current status of that setting, like a Wi-Fi button that turns on/off Wi-Fi with one tap and indicates the current status e.g. by a green/red color...
This would be cool to have it customizable for all on/off settings like auto brightness, VPN etc...

    That does exist

on a jailbroken iphone, there is an app for that...very usefull, doesn't have a green light or anything, but allows you to control wifi on the home screen

OK thats an option, but so far I did not jailbreak my baby...
Also planning to get a 3G soon and afaik its not sure wether jailnfreaking will work on the 2.0 software right?
I was more hoping of an update to the 2.0 software or a native 3rd party app...

wanted to edit this to correct "jailnfreaking" to "jailbreaking" but its quite funny so i kept it just adding this...

This is a very necessary feature, and at the very least they could put an On/Off switch on the main settings page, similar to the one for Airplane Mode.
