I accidentially deleted videos on my sd card and need to recover them.
What I found is that the "Top 10" of Data Rescue programs is a bunch of scam - all these reviews are just clones and all the software is same price that you need to pay before you can use it.
I went with Disk Drill - I totally legally bought me the license for the enterprise version here in the philippines and that way only lost 7 bucks haha but hey...

DiskDrill seems to work, I mean the regular scan doesnt find the files so you need the Deep Scan.
Yes that one finds the 1.66GB file and shows it as .mp4 and then resues it to the desktop.
But QuickTime, VLC and Handbrake all do not recognize that 1.66GB .mp4 file as a usable video.
So to recover video DiskDrill fails 200%!

Does anyone know a RELIABLE data rescue software that is supported for some years?
I dont buy liftetime licenses for software for xxx$ that expire after 1-2 years because thats theirbusiness model hahaha

Recovery tools can be problematic, particularly if the device was written to after the deletions.

Saved me from a stupid error in the past:

If there is "corruption" within the file itself -- rather than the media that it's stored on -- data "recovery" software may not matter.

After you deleted the videos, did you then use the card to record anything else?
If so, parts of the previous video files might be over-written and unrecoverable.

As for data recovery software, I've used "Data Rescue" in the past, and it worked for me. It was one of the oldest dr apps "out there".

Other thoughts:
You might take a look over at "gearspace.com" (formerly known as gearslutz.com).
That's where the audio/video guys hang out.
They might be able to offer assistance as to how to "get at" that "un-openable" file...

I can vouch for the SanDisk RescuePro.

Older conventional file recovery software does not work well with flash memory storage. I am sure a quick search can explain why, I just remember it being a thing.
