Everyone seems bummed about iOS 6 not including widgets, as am I, and like many others, I'd like to share my idea of how widgets should be implemented.

When in "jiggle mode" (all the apps jiggle and they can be moved around,) there should be little indicators around (certain) apps, and the user can pull these indicators to expand the icon of the app, turning it into a widget. Developers would of course have to implement this as part of their app, but I believe it would be a nice useful implementation of widgets in iOS as it would keep with the current grid system (as the apps turned into widgets and took up more space, the other apps would move around to make room for the widget.)
Take the Mail.app, for example. When in "jiggle mode," there would be little indicators around the app. I'd be able to pull on these indicators (up, down, left, right, depending on where the app was on the screen,) expanding the icon into a widget. Depending on the size (and shape, which could be limited by developers so the widget shape makes sense) I chose for the widget, it could show the most recent email I've gotten, previews of my emails, etc.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions about this widget implementation idea. I think it would be really nice, and it would be very simple to use and adjust, which is what iOS is all about.

Here are some CRUDE mockups of what the indicators would look like in "jiggle mode." Not all apps would be able to turn into widgets, just the ones that make sense (mail, maps, etc.)

I think that idea sucks and if widgets are going to be implemented at all they're going to fit in notification center along with the other 2
