Widgets in the middle

Hi guys, this may have been covered already but has anyone successfully located small widgets in the middle two rows? I managed it once back in beta 2 or 3 I can’t recall…. I’d just love to be able to flank widgets either side..🤷🏼‍♂️

The irksome thing is, I had it working for a few days back in beta 1,2 or 3 can’t recall. It’s obviously possible. Typical apple
