Why is there no weather, or stock widgets on the iPad 2 i don't understand. They are such simple applications that have become so passé on the iPhone.

During the iPad intro keynote, Steve said they (Apple) tried making a nice looking Stock/Calculator/Weather/Clock app for the iPad, but they didn't meet Apple's standards and where not included.

Perhaps because there's no such thing as an iPad 3? At least not yet.

There are, however, excellent weather and stock apps for iPads 1 and 2.

    ipad 2

i meant the iPad 2, i mean apps which would integrate with widgets. Up to standards? you can make every other iPhone app 2x, id gladly do that for the stock app.

In general widgets require considerably more sophisticated and comprehensive multitasking support than Apple was prepared to provide in the iPad.

If I ever met Scott Forstall in a dark alley I'd make sure we would see eye-to-eye on the iPad's continuing lack of features. ;):D
