New to the grey space left of the desktop!! When downloading widgets from Apple.com some don't work, some take me to a spammy website, and a few are dead links... Lol this isn't like Apple at all!! I was surprised at how icky it felt, and how terrible the widgets that did download preformed.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm surprised you can't find widgets in the App Store! I would love to put this space to work. After trying iGoogle I realized this is the same concept as the space I was neglecting on my Mac!!

Thanks much for any tips or pointers!

Widgets are part of Dashboard, introduced in Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger", back in 2005. In the 7 years since then, some of the third-party widgets (not developed by Apple and not their responsibility) have gone defunct. You can find Dashboard widgets from a variety of sources, and it would be best to make sure they have been updated more recently than the release of Lion.

Dashboard used to come up over top of the display, but in Lion they were made into their own space instead. This can be changed in System Preferences.
