I have a GPX "boombox" with iPhone dock, which I have been using to listen to music and charge my iPhone 3GS for about 2 months. I have always gotten the incompatibility message having to do with Airplane Mode, but I just clear it, and everyting is fine. Last night, I noticed that it didn't start charging when I docked it. The battery was pretty low, so I wondered if that had anything to do with it. I just plugged into another charger and went to sleep. I docked it again this morning, and nothing. Then, I noticed that if the iPhone was off when I docked it, I would hear the charging tone, but I got the Charging Not Allowed message that you get with older Firewire based chargers. At first, I tested my iPhone with several chargers, both Apple and 3rd party. All of them work just fine. I then took my wife's iPhone 3G and docked it in the boombox, and it charges fine with no error messages. What am I missing here? If the boombox was messed up, it wouldn't charge my wife's phone either. If my phone was messed up, then I think I would see more evidence with other accessories. Just for reference, I was running 3.1 until this morning, when I upgraded to the latest firmware. Any suggestions?
