iPod touch Wifi AND Location services off to save battery ?

Most of the top ten tips mention switching off both Wifi and location services on the ipod 4th gen to save battery drain. I would have thought if wifi was off then location services would not be able to access wifi and therefore also be 'off' ?

Or do both have to be disabled ?

Perhaps its me, but on IOS 4 I could use the imediashare (DLNA) app without using location services, but the new app for IOS 5 as to have location services enabled.😕
