Has Apple removed the ability to sync the iphone on wifi?

it does not show up except when connecting it to the mac via usb c.

Stupid question: have you checked this box while it connected by USB-C?

I was just on the phone with AppleCare. Apple has removed the ability to backup your iphone to your mac via wifi! You must use a usb cable. I used to backup to my MacBook Pro M5 all the time, but suddenly I was unable. I updated my Mac OS to 26.4.1 still can't backup via wifi! AppleCare's inly suggestion was to complain @ apple.com/feedback i suggest you complain, if enough do they might bring it back. Sheesh!

Because this doesn't seem right I called AppleCare again. I wanted to get the technical bulletin that detailed Apple removing the ability to backup my iphone to my MacBook Pro via wifi. Resetting my iPhone's network settings (Settings/General/Transfer or reset iphone/Reset/Reset Network Settings does restart the iphone and you will have to reconnect to your wifi network but doing this allowed my iphone to appear in a Finder window under locations. The first AppleCare tech was WRONG! For some reason when they hear the word backup they automatically want you to use iCloud- which I don't want to do! If I have to use a usb cable I will but I prefer not to, but I refuse to use iCloud for my backups.
