Is there a way to get an Apple TV to connect to a wifi network when it has a log on screen via a web browser?

When we travel in our RV, there are often wifi networks available to us. However, they require a web browser to input some identifying information. Does anyone know how to get around this?

I have an Apple TV 3rd Gen.

No.

You could:

1. Buy a small travel router (TP Link or similar). Many of these support web authentication.
2. Use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on Mac (or PC?).

I use ICS method when I travel with ATV (3 and 4). I connect my Mac to the WiFi, and share the connection with my Ethernet port. Options for the Ethernet port are to connect a small Airport Express with my home WiFi credentials so my iOS devices and ATV can connect wirelessly, or to connect Ethernet device(s) directly (or through a switch) to the Mac Ethernet connection.

No. I agree with what Techwarrior has posted. A simpler solution may be to leave the ATV at home and just use an iPhone or iPad with an HDMI dongle connected to the TV. Just authenticate the wifi on the iOS device and then send the video to the TV.

That is what I have been doing. I was trying to eliminate as many cables as possible.

I have plenty of spare router/APs lying around the house. Maybe I'll try one of them next time.

Thanks!

I submitted a suggestion to Apple via bugreporter to add a browser to tvOS. The "bug" report was recently closed because it was a duplicate of somebody else's report. Maybe they are working on it.

Duplicate only means another request was submitted, not that it is in the works. The original request may still be active, but most devs keep a running list and prioritize feature requests with each release, often rejecting more features than they accept. They need to see a real benefit, in Apple's view this would mean revenue, or a compelling use case.

This request has probably been in the list since the original ATV.

Chances of this making it to tvOS are probably about 0.0%.

The fact is, travel use of ATV is pretty limited, most users would tend to use these in homes or businesses.

Yes, three ways.
  1. Contact WiFi network admin ( or tech support ) and have them add your AppleTV manually by its MAC address.
  2. Side load browser app ( haven't tried this in a couple of years, it was crappy but functional )
  3. Spoof your MAC address.
I hate contacting tech support, so I normally just spoof it.

PS Apple should really add the Safari Browser to AppleTV. Why the hell wouldn't they? Yes, we have been asking for this since day one. I agree, chances have diminished to about 0.0%

If the cheapest FireStick that costs $39.99 can navigate thru a hotel portal, one would think a ATV4 (or 5) thats $149.99 minimum could frigging do so...The ATV4 is the only product Apple has put in the recent past that has gotten THICKER, so no problem there I guess... LOL

Crazy.
