I would be interested in views on what the watch can achieve using wifi which apple has been very cagey about

    I understand that:

    1. It can be used to connect to the phone if Bluetooth not adequate or to assist with high speed transfer
    2. It can be used to connect to the phone via a local area network. This sounds cool as you could get your phone notifications having dinner downstairs whilst your phone is upstairs - or something like that ;)
    3. It can connect to the internet independently of the phone via a local area network. This has been demonstrated by the ability to receive iMessages if the phone is switched off.

anything else observed ? (any other apps work besides iMessages ?)

I am hoping that more will be added later, e.g.:
    1. The ability to choose and download apps
    2. To play multiplayer games
    3. Act as a remote for my wifi equipped camera
    etc.

    If

If the phone and watch are on the same WLAN, and the watch is not in BT range of the phone, the watch will connect to wifi and it can do EVERYTHING that it would normally do.

and it does it much faster too, but that includes battery usage.
