WIFI issues with Big Sur

I have been using Macs since 2008. I have had more problems with Big Sur than any other MacOS since I started using them.

I am currently running a 2019 MacBook Pro and a 2019 iMac. WIFI works for a while after a restart and then quits. I have reset the PRAM and SMC on the MacBook Pro. I have forgotten the WIFI network and turned off auto logins. Still these problems persist. The only way to get it to work again is to restart.

Surely others must be experiencing the same issues.

On my 2019 MacBook Pro I have to wait about a minute for Wi-Fi to start working again. I don't restart. I since bought a USB Type C Ethernet adapter that I use when my Wi-Fi starts to act up and use it if I am streaming video or using video calls.

Big Sur WIFI Woes

I came into macOS with Catalina and I had issues with Wi-Fi from the start, so I don't know if that was the start of it. Randomly my Wi-Fi will stop working for about a minute. I can go all day or even several days without issues then it can start again like yesterday when it disconnected twice...

Big Sur WIFI Woes

I have ordered a USB C ethernet adapter. I'm sure it will work since my iMac's ethernet works just fine. What I want is for Apple to fix the WIFI problem in Big Sur. The laptop is designed to be mobile. I want to use the WIFI so that I can use the MacBook Pro as it was designed to be used.

BTW ethernet doesn't fix everything. My iMac is connected via ethernet. It will suddenly stop working after about 15 mins and only work again after a restart.

I fixed it by downgrading to Catalina...

For me upgrading router to latest wifi 6 ax fixed problems I had, even my non-ax iPhone X. Had lot of issues with changes in iOS 14 beta.
 
I have been using Big Sur since the first beta. No WiFi issues. Linksys router and one Linksys extender control my NcMP, three streaming TVs, my VOIP phones and my cell phones when I'm home. No dropped signals - ever.

I had zero WIFI or ethernet issues with Catalina. Nothing but issues with Big Sur. All with the same router I have used for the last year and a half.
 
When you say quit what is the symptom? My internet has gotten weird and slow under certain conditions that I can't figure out.
 
No issues with wifi on Big Sur on my older Macs, but it seems in particular the MBP 2019 is having a lot of problems.
Routers and wifi points are of course always an important part of the game, I truly enjoy my Ubiquiti setup.

The symptom is the WIFI looks as if it is still connected to the network but it is not. The first notice I get is that my NAS has disconnected from the network. If I go to another web site in Safari the site will not connect. If I check the WIFI connection in settings the WIFI has an orange dot instead of green. All of this can be fixed by restarting. After restart WIFI works for up to 5 mins and it all starts again.

I am typing this on my iMac which I have downgraded to Catalina. I'll try Big Sur again when it gets to at least 11.1

I'm back to Catalina on both my 2019 iMac and MacBook Pro. Zero issues with WIFI. Just like I suspected. Not the computers, not the WIFI router (Google WIFI), Big Sur is the culprit...
 
I'm having wifi issues on my new MacBook M1. I have an Orbi and no other issues with other devices in the exact same location.
 
My 16-inch MBP continues to drop internet connection... even though it shows the WiFi remains connected. Happened occasionally in Catalina (still noticeable), but now occurs anywhere between 3-4 times/hr and then it's fine for a couple hours. So frustrating and I worry about being dropped from calls during meetings/Zoom.

I been having wifi issue connecting to my iPhone hotspot since installing Big Sur. I need to reboot my MacBook Air everytime to reconnect to the hotspot but I manage to fix after following this YouTube fixed.

I have had a ton of networking issues since upgrading to Big Sur. My 2012 Mac Mini was losing it's network (ethernet) almost every time I attempted to do a macports update. When it goes out it appears as though it is connected but when opening the Network pane everything is blank. Had similar issues with my 2017 MBP and wifi where the network died also doing macports update, the network pane was also blank confirming it is the same issue. A reboot fixes it and for some reason it was always macports use when the network died. It's very frustrating.
 
I had been having a very stable WiFi on Catalina ..Except for the known issue for Mac Unlock using iWATCH and Touch ..as your speed drops to 10Mbps from 1300 Mbps ! if you unlock with Watch !! ...Now in BIG SUR ..This is Extremely Annoying ! ..The Macbook Pro cant have a stable WiFi at all , It shows i am connected to WiFi ..but doing some ping , i. see packet loss , alot of it , and i cant have a high speed connection to my Enterprise Grade WiFi Products from Cisco !! .. this is super annoying and i will probably downgrade very soon , ..the New MacBook Pro is useless without wiFi
 
Today I installed Big Sur on an external drive hooked up to my 2019 MacBook Pro. No problems with WIFI whatsoever. It must be the later version of 11.0.1.

Weird. I had the opposite. Catalina (and Mojave, if I remember correctly) had wifi issues where it wouldn't reconnect on waking from sleep. Big Sur has been rock solid since the first beta.

Sorry they somehow passed my problem on to you during the OS change!
