never thought I’d complain that my WiFi signal goes so far...but I am. I swear to god 200 yards away my watch is linking to my WiFi and not connecting to cellular. But the signal is so weak that it won’t send or receive. The only other explanation is that Apple hasn’t fixed the watch connecting to random WiFi signals.

Have you updated to watchOS 4.0.1?

Also, in watchOS 4.1, you will be able to see the Wi-Fi network name in Control Centre so you will know if it is connecting to random networks.

That will be so nice and useful. But if it’s not my network I wonder if I can turn the WiFi off?

Where? I don’t see it.

Do you have an option to reduce the Wi-Fi power at home. Many Wi-Fi routers and access points allow you to adjust the power levels.

On your question about watchOS 4.0.1, look at the Watch app, Tap General, Software Update is located right below About.

watchOS 4.1 Beta 2 shows a Toggle to turn off Wi-Fi on the Watch's Control Panel.

I’m on the latest. I guess I’ll just wait for 4.1 or take a different route when I walk or run.
