Hi there, my Mom is getting an iBook as she just retired and will be traveling. She thinks she can pay bills online whilst in hotels and whatnot in hotels as she will be gone for over a month at a time (using unsecured wireless access). I dont think this is secure but cannot seem to find a definitive answer. If a site (such as a bank or a credit card company) has security with the https is the entire transaction secure? And does a mac make it any more secure than a pc?

Thank you,
Carole

HTTPS over unsecured wifi network is secure.... anything else isnt!

And unfortunately, Macs dont have an upper hand at this! WiFi security really depends on the router/switch rather than the OS!

Thank you! That is the answer I was hoping for altho not the one I thought I might get. 🙂

Thanks again!
