i have the same problem, 50 mbps down, cant even brake 1 mbps down on iphone 5 yet, 15mbps upload. is it my 2.4 router?

Yes. On 2.4GHz, mine is ~27mbps. While, on 5GHz, it's ~68mbps. But, I still use 2.4GHz because it offers better range around my house.

I'm getting Wifi speeds of 58 Mbps on my Iphone 5s through my Airport Extreme being used in bridge mode with my Verizon ActionTec Router.

I'm assuming your Wifi speed will be capped by what kind of Internet speed you are paying for, correct?
If your router and the device can access speed faster than what your ISP is providing, then, YES.

The Apple router is better than the Verizon. So, the Verizon should be in bridge mode while the AirPort Extreme be the router. Call Verizon and tell them to do that.

Nice! I wonder if the I/O of the iPhone 5S was changed from the late model iPhone 5 where LTE really is a huge leap.

Especially being on T-Mobile where I had gotten my iPhone 5. Indoors with only two "dots" out of five, I've been able to pull 30 Mbps. Plenty to pull HD content from Netflix.

If I follow your question the cellular and wifi chips in the 5s are updates from the 5, although i couldn't give the specifics. Probably fixit has the low down.

Yeah I know the AirPort Extreme is much better than the Verizon router which is why I got it but I'm not sure I can do this since the Verizon router is also used for my TV service and I think by doing that it would disable my DVR, thus the Verizon router needs to remain as the main router thoughts?

I would assume the DVR feature wouldn't be linked to the router feature. You should just contact Verizon. Ask them if their device can be put into bridge mode so you can use your own router.

It's a complete mystery of why this speed issue is going on with my base station... Having Comcast replace the modem and buy an AEBS or Time Capsule.

On FiOS in NYC, using Airport Extreme connected to the Verizon router. I just tested both sitting in the same spot.

I disabled the WiFi on the Verizon router and connected my AEBS to it via Cat5. Works great. And it allows me to use my AEX to extend the network into the far reaches of my apartment :)

It bet its your router. I had an issue previously with my wifi and upgraded to the TPLink. Having 5GHZ linked to my iphone helped me have full connection (i have 90+ MBPS from comcast). Good luck.

Did you do as instructed?
Did it improve your speed?

Been there, done that. going to buy a Time Capsule and swap out my Xfinity modem/gateway. Nothing I have is stuck with wireless G or flooded in the same channel as many home networks nearby. Used my WiFi tuning app which shows that nothing is pulling in the crowded 2.4Ghz band, disabled Wireless G.

and no change. Every device I have is running on 802.11N spec as well as in the 5GHZ range. (all the older equipment such as my old Wii) are connected directly via Cat 5. That also includes my BD player and it's crazy amount of apps and my legacy 160GB Apple TV.

It doesn't make any sense.
