I jailbroke my iPad with jailbreakme.com and since then when I connect to a network it no longer shows the Wifi Symbol next to the iPad word. Also, the spinning activity indicator disappears.

This has happened to me a few times.
Sometimes a respring fixes it.
Other times, toggling "numeric wifi" does.
Sometimes a respring fixes it.

Follow these steps
These steps should resolve your issue, as it has with me:
1) Uninstall OpenSHH
2) Install SBSettings
3) Turn Off Wifi and "Forget this Network"
4) Reset Network Settings
5) Respring with SBSettings
And that should do it 🙂 Hope it helps.
