you want to manually do it. in itunes youll see your iphone under devices, you can right click and sync, or on your phone go to settings general itunes wifi sync and sync now. good luck

Open iTunes on your mac?

Make sure that under the pref/device setting in iTunes you don't have the box checked that disables auto-syncing. Think it's the top box (not in front of my mac right now).

I was having an issue where I could initiate a manual wifi sync- but it would not do it automatically when I plugged it into the wall-charger. This was my issue.

When all is set up correctly, every time you open iTunes your iDevices will pop up in the iTunes side bar and begin to sync.

Or maybe he also backup to iCloud.

It's both automatic and manual. It syncs automatically whenever plugged into power and connected to wifi (and your computer is awake with iTunes open). You can also force it to sync any time from Settings>General>iTunes wifi sync, for which it doesn't need to be plugged into power.

The way to check if it's working is to connect your phone to iTunes via USB (which you need to do once anyway) and then disconnect it. If the phone disappears from iTunes' device list on the left, it's not set up for wifi sync. It should stay there in the list because it's still connected via wifi. If the device does disappear, hard reset the phone, that fixed it for me.

And yes make sure the wifi option is enabled in iTunes.

But I don't necessarily want it to auto-sync the second I connect it to external power source, either.

Can someone confirm whether or not you need to have "auto-sync when this device is connected" turned on in iTunes in order for wi-fi sync to work?

you don't need 'auto-sync...' turned on for wifi sync to work- you'll just need to manually initiate a wifi sync via the iPhone settings menu.

it only syncs if i do it manually..

i thoguht.. i come home plug it into the outlet cord or whatever and it syncs?
