So, the other day I dropped my Powerbook and now airport won't work unless the screen is tilted at a 20-degree angle from the keyboard, hence it makes working on the computer almost impossible. 🙁 🙁

I have been looking for wifi usb adapters to fix the problem, but haven't been able to find any that specifically support os x. If anyone has some suggestions I would appreciate any help as my I can't really function without internet access. Thanks.

Have you opened it up to see if the Airport card is just loose in there?

I had the tech guys at my school take a look at it, and they said everything is seated right, it's more likely that the wire got damaged or is loose somewhere in the display from my having dropped the computer (I dropped it on the back right side, if that helps). Thanks.

Well, people always speak highly of the D-Link DWL-122 USB dongle for wireless (as long as you download the latest drivers to make it work on Tiger). I've bought one myself, but haven't had a chance to try it out.

Thanks for the info. I was looking on the D-Link website and the DWL-122 is only supported through 10.3. I am currently running 10.4. Any ideas?

I would be interested to know as well if one will work with my iMac G3 333mhz. It is running 9.2 though....😕

Will it work on a G3 iMac you think?

It'll work on any computer that has a USB port and the correct driver installed...the type of computer makes no difference.

if you search the forums, there are other threads about this, and this is what i said last time:
NO! Don't get that one in particular. I got the same originally for my iBook 600mHz w/o Airport, and it froze the 'book EVERY SINGLE TIME I USED IT with the iBook- of the like 7 times i've ever had to reboot it 5 times were because of it (and one was because of a kernel panic...).
Personally I would buy an real Airport card, it is in fact worth the cost.
But that's just what I think, please, if you buy it, be aware of its return policy

*PS- it worked perfectly with a PC, so it was not a lemon...

As a matter of interest, which drivers were you using, and under which version of OS X?
