Doubtful. I think the notch will remain exactly the same for 2018, however; will eventually subside or be eliminated once the hardware can be implemented differently. The Notch is Apples trademark design, its not leaving or reducing this year in all likeliness.

can't see it getting smaller until they remove it completely. I'm sure though on the x plus verison there will be more room for maybe the icons at the top. I would rather they start to show battery %

I try not to worry too much about battery life but it is a pain scolling down when I do want to see how much is left near the end of the day I must admit. Apple really should have made this an option to turn on or off really. Maybe in IOS 12
