I think it's the perfect size and I don't like the 4 or 4.7, I think they are too big. Will Apple make an iPhone with this size ever again?

Probably come back later as the iPhone mini, and cost $100 more than the comparable spec model of the "standard size" whatever Standard Size is at that moment.

Never, at least not in a 3:2 aspect ratio like the iphone 4/4S.

Media and other content has made the push to 16:9 and even though the 4S is still supported it's pretty obvious that it's aspect is its handicap. Just look at the message app, in a group message, with QuickType enabled you have a tiny one line sliver to see what you are typing. And that is an app designed by apple.

3.5" 16:9 is out of the question because it narrows the keyboard to much to use even with small hands.

Anyway, don't expect to ever see 3.5" on an iPhone again.

Apple just follows the money. Right now they are being rewarded at record levels for switching the "perfect" again (now to 4.7" and 5.5"). If the money would stop flowing and instead shift toward Android 3.5" or 4" or even 2" screens, Apple would soon roll out a 3.5" or 4" or 2" iPhone.

The biggest problem for those missing 4" or 3.5" is that there doesn't seem to be enough of you to show up in Apple's cash registers. While I'm confident there are large numbers who might even rather have a 4" or 3.5" screen, I suspect many are shrugging that off and going with whatever Apple offers anyway. Those that are left are probably just not a big enough group for Apple to notice.

If you don't believe that, expect Android to go where Apple is not (again), rolling out loaded smart phones at screens < 4.7". If so and if enough send money that way, Apple will resurrect a smaller-size screen.

I think it's safe to say that the 3.5" screen has died with the 6 and 6 Plus. I can see Apple making a 7 mini with a 4" but it won't be any smaller than that.

I remember when ppl were asking for an iPhone mini.. They wanted screens SMALLER than 3.5 :|

I think at some point phones will shrink again but they will be different than today's phones. Bendable or foldable or something.

Phones started out big, got small and are now getting bigger (but thinner)

I don't think so but maybe we'll see some new 4'' models in the future for the low end market

I for one love my 6, It's easier to read than the 5 I had, and feels better in my hand. I look at my girlfriends 5s no and it just seems tiny!

Someone needs to invent a device that is all screen. It can be folded to say a few inches and show the content or you can unfold portions to increase the screen size so then you can have a device at 3" all the way up to like 7".

I'm sure this is simple...

Thing is most folks who prefer 3.5" already have the iPhone 4/4S and those who like 4" already have the 5/5s. If you want updated hardware, there's no option but to go bigger. Basically, our only options are to stick to our old iPhones (no additional revenue for Apple) or go with the flow and buy a bigger model (additional revenue that "supports" demand for bigger displays). Either way you go, it doesn't show that a market for small, high-end phone exists. That said, I do think those who prefer 3.5" or 4" are probably a minority.

I think phones have just about gone the way of laptops...

We won't see much change in them anymore. The new big thing is smartwatches/other wearables.

My prediction is they will hold steady around 4.7 and 5.5.

I suspect the 3.5" screens used up to the iPhone 4S are out. 4", on the other hand, could make a comeback when the iPhone 5C has to be renewed.

I understand but the same could be said about bigger screen iPhones before the 6 launches. Nobody had 4.7" and 5.5" iPhones before the 6 launched, so at the (prelaunch) time, it "doesn't show a market for large, high end iPhones" either. Then they launched and Apple has sold more of them faster than any iPhone before them.

How did Apple know to go to those bigger sizes? Because Android was doing well there. The voting with the wallet was people choosing to buy bigger-screen Androids over smaller screen iPhones. Now there will be an opportunity for Android to turn the tables. Since Apple is probably eating Androids lunch in the bigger-screen phones now, maybe Android makers will take a more serious shot at screens <4.7". If so, and if Apple sees a good volume of defections and/or brand new buyers opting for those phones over iPhone, then Apple probably revisits the smaller size.

But what we have now is a segment grumbling that they want the old "perfect" but buying the 4.7" or 5.5" anyway. Apple feels no pain if they get the money anyway. An in-house market doesn't show itself by buying anyway. It shows itself by refusing to buy in big enough numbers to motivate a seller to do something different.

Couple of thoughts:

There's no reason to make a small 6 while the channel is clogged with 4 and 5's. So the 6S will retain two sizes. The 7 will be the time to release an iPhone mini.

IPhone sales are massive, more than enough to support 3 sizes, especially if they can reduce the number of variations. They just killed off the 32, cutting 4 down to 3. And the new sim means one sku for all providers. That just leaves colors, and not all sizes need them.

Some customers love having everything on one device. These are the 6+ lovers. Others love having a set of specialists. I would love a 3 inch iphone I can leave in my pocket for when my pad isn't with me. Be there when I need you and signal me when you need a recharge.
