Will 3GS battery fit in the 3G iPhone??

Is there any chance Apple would be able to fit the new improved 3GS battery into a 3G iPhone if i took it in for replacement?

its the same battery...just different hardware..

Oh i see.. I was thinking the actual battery was slightly bigger or just more efficient..
