Will a 2012 MacBook Air screen work on a 2014 MacBook Air?

Yes, kind of. You may lose camera and light sensor as different adapter on the logic board. The display (I.e.LCD) is same (almost).
I even use my old 2010 screen on 2017MBA. No problem
