Trying an android phone for awhile but still love the iPhone. While my iPhone is deactivated, will I still be able to get ios7 when it comes out?

Will a deactivated iPhone 5 still get updates?

If won't do anything WHILE it's deactivated, but if turned on and WIFI available the phone will talk to Apple that way regardless whether you have cellular service.
If phone left completely off, the next time it gets powered on and the phone "finds" its way to the Internet either through WIFI or cellular data then it will attempt to load the latest IOS.
