Not disagreeing with you but just curious what do you do with yours that you even need to replace the cord? I’ve had mine since they came out, and I’ve only unplugged it/moved it maybe five times.

I'm also curious... In decades of living I have never broken an AC power cord. And that includes moving my seven HomePods around.

I have 2 original full sized HomePods. They sound great and when Siri works it is wonderful (alarms/timers/turning off lights etc), however it misses my commands so often that we joke that Siri is an idiot. What boggles my mind is that I have had these for about 4 years and I have seen no improvement whatsoever. Every update I get hopeful and let down again. If I wasn't full in on Apple ecosystem I would try something else. But I hate Google and Amazon. So...

They didn’t update the S series chip this year - it’s the same base die as last year in a new package. While it does have a neural network it certainly doesn’t have enough oomph to really drive Apple Intelligence. My guess would be that they will update to an N3E S series chip next year and substantially bulk out the neural engine so that they can bring more of on-device Apple Intelligence to the Watch. That’s when we’ll see new HomePods and HomePods mini.
Makes a lot of sense.

Purchased one for our garden room as we wanted something compact , the sound is excellent but thought it would be even better with 2 so purchased another one which really improved the over soundstage .

The built in humidity / temperature sensors are useful and Siri is able to control the smart lights we had installed.

It is very odd that Apple Intelligence is coming to nearly every Apple device EXCEPT HomePods, where it could actually be truly beneficial.
This. I would say deceiving, maybe even stupid.
The main way to interact with HomePods is with the voice. But they seem to be stuck on a stupid language model.

It's as if Apple implemented the best touch screen on Earth on HomePods, but not on iPhones....

Will only consider them again if they fix that and make all major functions accessible to all major non Apple platforms (Windows, Linux, Android), as well as make them swarm compatible if grouped together for an easy to set up simple surround system.

Of course all of Apples products evolve around their ecosystem. They're very interconnected when this is understood.

Someone learned something.

As others have already said, the only update needed for the minis (except Siri) is for them to work with HomePods for surround sound. I love the Spatial Audio from my stereo HomePods, but it would be so good to add minis as rear speakers as well. Apple will sell a significant amount more minis if they do this, as well as HomePods

Bluetooth Audio, so it could beuseful to non-iphone people - e.g. if you have guests with android devices, a.k.a. the majority of the world.

And, for the love of God, please make the cable interchangeable. They don't repair broken cables anymore - and never did here in central Europe. So you have to buy a new one if the cable breaks. That's just such a collosal waste and really everything but environmentally conscious.(I did repair one of mine, though - but it was not easy, nor pretty)
Again it already has Bluetooth. Just can’t be used like that, and likely never will be

Not expecting to see a new mini any time soon. Maybe new colours are possible.
