I got a new iPad 4 wifi cellular will it have it's 6 already pre installed or will it have it's 5. Is there anyway to tell with out opening the box. I don't want to open it before christmas.

It will come with iOS 6 for absolutely sure. iOS 6 was already out long before it went on sale. Apple would not put outdated software on it.

This is an updated version of the iPad 3 came out in March. Even so, it would still come with iOS 6 if it had not been refreshed.

this is very simple. If it is an ipad 4 it will definitely have iOS 6. iOS 6 was released over a month before the ipad 4 was even released.
