Will a Wired Headset Work?

I have a Plantronics MX505 laying around. If I get an adapter that allows it to fit into the recessed headphone jack, will it work like a normal headset? Voice and sound, that is?

No it won't if you look at the stock headset it has 3 white rings on the plug, the adapters all have 2 and leave out the 3rd mic ring. I tried to do the same thing with my favorite wired earpiece as well.
