I am looking into buying an iphone off of craigslist. Many of them seem to be 'unlocked' but are different providers, such as Fido or Rogers. I was wondering if one of these phone would work with Telus? or if Telus would allow a foreign phone?

yes an unlocked iphone will work on telus

i have jailbroken the iphone using redsn0w and unlocked it using ultrasn0w and had no problem with telus

however be careful when upgrading the firmware to 3.1.2 and unlock using blacksn0w...this will work but my also screw up your wifi chip

Can you elaborate on 3.1.2 and blacksnow?

Is the wifi chip permanently fubared, or can it be fixed by going back to the old OS? Also, is it safer to use ultrasnow for example to unlock 3.1.2?
