I currently have a Series 1 so a Series 3 would bring performance upgrades at a good price, and it has all the fitness/health features I need. I’m kind of thinking a Series 3 would be fine for my needs. The only thing I would worry about is that it’ll be obsolete quicker.

Anyone else now tempted by a Series 3 who wasn’t before?

After Apple dropped the whole failed fashion statement of the AW for health and fitness, I considered getting one, but the price has always held me back.

I am not a watch guy, and hate the idea of another device to charge, but the health and fitness features could be enough for me to give it a try, but two things held me back, the price and lack of water resistance on earlier models.

The AW 3 @ $199 fixes both things that was holding me back, so I am really looking into it now. I might wait for some holiday specials coming up though.

My daughter has wanted an Apple watch for a while. I'll probably get her the series 3......

It will stop receiving updates at least two years before the current Series 5. That said, once the Series 3 is no longer updated - you could then buy the current cheapest option at that time and probably still come out ahead in terms of total cost (versus buying just a Series 5 now).

Was more than happy with my S3 SBSS until I smashed the screen. Applecare plus replaced with a series 4 and the bigger screen is nice, I actually prefer the shape of the 3 though. The S3 is a solid option and a great price now.

I already wanted a Series 3, but after the keynote I'm definitely considering getting one now. That price is great for a watch that's still perfectly capable.

I wouldn’t opt for the Series 3 at this point, I think the Series 4 is a major advantage with the 64 bit architecture moving forward. Series 3 is still plenty efficient, but now it’s like the new ‘series one’ for being the entry level.

Ya Apple is giving a whopping $70 for my stainless steel series 3 plenty of 3rd party resellers are gonna snatch up.

Currently using a Series 2 no problems with it happy with the device wasn't looking to upgrade to the Series 3 but the price has me tempted not sure if it's worth the upgrade though

Yah I would wait next year. The series 4 would be a huge upgrade.

thye might bring it back next year. Like when they brought back older Apple watches. Like series 0.

Yeah but doesn't look like Apple is offer the Series 4 anymore only the S3 and S5. Series 3 seems hard to upgrade from a Series 2 while Series 5 too much

i had the series 2 RG and series 3 G and ended up just using the series RG more cause of the color and in the end didnt notice a big difference. i say try to get a discounted 4 or plunge for the 5 because the bigger screen in insane

I think Apple’s strategic planning team is going in the right direction with the iPhone 11 and Apple Watch 3 price points, it should attract a lot of people with an iPhone that will try the watch and be tempting for anyone with an Android device to make the switch.

Actually, what Apple did, is they updated the first GEN watch with the new processor for the ‘Series one’, but it was not the same watch altogether.

My daughter will be getting my Series 3. (She's using my Series 0 now) I'm thrilled by my Series 3 and wouldn't get a new Watch but I really want the fall protection. (I'm in my 70's).

For anyone who doesn't have a Watch, a Series 3 is a TERRIFIC deal.

Yeah, but it’s half the entry-level price of a S4. $200 vs $400. It’s a very capable device at half the price.

My mindset is leaning towards the S3 from my S1. In Canada I can pick up the S3 Cellular for $429 versus Series 4 Cellular for $673 both plus tax. No idea what the S4 Cellular sells for in the Apple Store as my price is from CDW Canada.
