Microsoft, Google, Meta, all laying off thousands of employees (all the while prioritizing AI, not unrelated I think). So far Apple has been unaffected. Do you think the news will come soon that Apple has contracted its work-force as well?

I would not doubt it ... though they will likely try to minimize the effect on US-based staff.
Oh for sure the question is more likely how many will Apple need to do to have whatever numbers they need to make people happy unfortunatly

Yes, I do.
Quite candidly, given the current global economic climate, - squeezed incomes, leading to declining sales - I would be surprised if Apple did not - at some stage, over the coming quarter - feel the need to take such a step.
