Verizon just got the iPhone 4. How does that make sense?

I think you need to realize that Apple doesn't only sell iPhones to America. There is a whole world outside, who doesn't even care about Verizon.
Regardless, Apple launches iPhone upgrades annually, so it's common sense that there will be an iPhone 5 in June WWDC '11.

Lol are you serious? What about all the other countries that Apple ships to that have had multiple carriers this whole time and couldn't give a crap about Verizon getting it? They're not going to wait just because of Verizon.

They've sold what, 100mil+ iPhones now? If you don't believe that figure alone isn't enough for Apple to keep their cycle going for their international customers you're fooling yourself.

It makes sense because theyre not going to not release an iPhone that will sell like hotcakes just because one carrier got the iPhone a few months before.

Thats like saying you have a product you sell millions of all through March only, every year, nation wide in the US. But this year, in September, you sell to Canada. Would you just not sell to the US because you just sold to Canada? Doesnt make much sense does?

Ok maybe thats a terrible analogy.....but I tried haha

It makes sense because Verizon doesn't dictate Apple's product cycles. It is also possible that Apple will delay the release of the CMDA iPhone 5 (which will surely be sent to many more carriers - world-wide - than just Verizon).

Yes, it's almost a certainty. VZW getting the iPhone 4 has nothing to do with it.

I thought the US was the world? wait, are you serious? there's other countries out there?

Yes I'm wanting to upgrade my 3gs to an iPhone 5 when they come out. And I could care less about Verizon.

I'm still of the opinion that the CDMA iPhone hints at what's to come with the next version of the iPhone, since it has the dual band chip in it. I'm betting that the new iPhone has the A5 chip, is dual band, and the same form factor with the slight possibility of a larger screen. Might move from 512MB to 1GB memory, but I'm kinda doubting that it will have a jump from 32GB to 64GB, even though I'm hoping so.

woah woah woah!!!!

Last time I checked Apple is based in California and Steve Jobs is an AMERICAN!

Apple is OUR company!

American Pride!

reports of a white iPhone 4 being released in April so it's def not a definite that it will be announced in June/July

2. who the hell cares?

Hello from Kuwait - there IS a parallel universe - its called ' the rest of the world' ie not-America .... I suspect we'll be doling out our Dinar mid year.

Makes perfect sense. Sell a bunch of iPhone 4's to desperate Verizon customers, some of whom wil upgrade to iPhone 5 this summer. What part of business do you not understand?
