Will Apple deploy USB-3 lightning cables?

I am sure that iPhone will have USB 3 support one day but it only takes less than a minute for me to do backups and do not see much of a need for more speed. It is not just the cables, the hardware would have to support USB 3, too. The memory in the iPhone can barely keep up with USB 2 so there is a lot more involved than just new cables.
