Will Apple ever re-enable headphone controls?

Anyone know if Apple is going to ever re-enable headphone controls? Ever since iOS7 the functionality has stopped working on both my Apple supplied earbuds and 3rd party earbuds.

They still work. I only use the ear pods and I can pause and adjust the volume with them, same with on my iPad.

Are you sure there isn't something wrong with your headphones or iPhone itself? My headphone controls still work on my iPhone 4s, 5s and iPad mini running iOS 7.0.4.

Mine (Apple ones) still work too, with 7.0.4 on my 4S.

Mine work fine. iOS 7.0.4 on my iPhone 5.

Both EarPods and Klipsch s4i work on iPhone 5 and iPad 4 all on ios 7

Both wired and bluetooth remote still working.

Thanks guys. I got it to work. Turns out there was a lot of gunk inside the headphone port. I got needle and some tape and cleaned it out.

I can't control the voice memos app. When ever I press the button on the headset music app starts playing.
