I have a iMac 7,1 and the display is a little funky. I bought it from Best buy with a warranty but every time I have them fix it. they don't give me quality parts. On my Macbook when the battery went dead they gave me one made by samsung and it is horrible, you barely get an hour on it. So I want to go directly through with apple. I just don't have an apple care protection plan. Will they fix it just as if I pay them to replace the display? Or do I have to have plan? I just don't want to go through with best buy.

I'd have thought you could only replace an iMac display with one supplied by Apple. Your Macbook battery should be the same also, unless the warranty company are using dodgy 3rd party batteries.

Local Apple repair...

...it might be good to make a personal connection with a qualified local repair shop. That way you can be satisfied that proper parts are used.

You should be able to buy only the parts you need - I understand not wanting to join Apple's computer insurance scheme.
