Or perhaps for the first year Apple gives the device free for first 6 months and you can pay after 6 months only if you think that you will not exchange it for the next one coming up !

what will you do six months after THAT when an even better one comes out?

my god the sense of entitlement here is strong. it really feels like you don't even want an iPad as much as you just want the ability to say you have the "latest thing."

Well - other than the iPad 4 and this new iPad pro, they've been on a yearly cycle. So not really that consistent

I doubt it though.

The iPad Pro doesn't count as its a new product and not a direct replacement for the 9.7" iPads.

thats semantics - its a 9.7" ipad with a couple extra features and a name change. It is basically an ipad air 3, 18 months after the air 2

Releasing a 9.7" iPad in the spring and then another in the fall makes no sense. Releasing new products is a big investment of time, man power, and money, you know. They don't just pull them out of a hat. Why would they completely curtail the sales of the spring model for the sake of a fall model that couldn't possibly offer significant improvements?

If anything, with three active iPad lines I think we will see more staggered update cycles. We've already seen the Air 2 skip a 2015 upgrade, and given that the Mini 3 was only a superficial upgrade to the Mini 2, the Mini line in effect skipped a year too. There will definitely not be second 9.7" iPad in 2016. There may not even be another one until rather late in 2017.
