My wife was out looking at purchasing a 9" iPad Pro yesterday including the Apple keyboard/cover. Like most females she'd like to get the keyboard/cover in a different color other then the standard black one they offer.

Are there any rumors of Apple coming out with these in different colors? With most Apple product covers being available in many colors it's surprising they only offer one choice. I know they make third party keyboards but she was hoping to stay with the Apple keyboard because of it's slim size and fit.

Thanks

I haven't heard anything about different colors yet. I don't think it's just a thing "most females" want though. I am not a female and I too would have chosen something other than gray for my Smart Keyboard cover. I love the colors Apple uses in their smart covers and back covers, so I would have chosen lime green or blue rather than gray.

I did buy the silicon back cover as well and chose gray to match, but I'm thinking about getting a different color at some point.

I wish Apple would read this thread and act on it. I definitely wanted something other than gray. I would've preferred an actual black keyboard and cover. I would've even preferred leather over silicone to match my iPhone case but oh well. I purchased anyways. Great product even if an unfavorable color.

Does Apple even sell the keyboard in sufficient quantities to justify creating multiple colours?
They don't even offer non US keyboard layouts. I'm in the US so it doesn't effect me but I'd be pissed if I was somewhere else. Obviously by now they should have some sort of sales figures of Pro to Keyboard purchases and could release separate versions.

Yeah, I'm in the UK and found it mildly annoying that it's only in US layout: Fortunately, there's not a massive difference between UK and US layouts (the main one being the £ being on shift-3 on the UK layout rather than #, but option-3 is £ on the keyboard so it's not a major issue). However, I'd be more annoyed if I lived in a country that has a completely different layout (Such as France's AZERTY or Germany's QWERTZ)

I live in germany and I'm still waiting for new layouts because of this. Sucks hard. -.-

I suspect the Smart Keyboard is not as mass market as the smart covers. Therefore Apple probably feel from a business stand point it's not worth producing and selling keyboards in different colours and layouts. Maybe if and when they become as commonly used as the smart covers they might change this and offer more options.

I am hoping for white to compliment my rose gold ipp, also backlighting would be awesome. Is it that hard to put LEDs in? Logitech did it and the reason I don't have that keyboard is because of how heavy it makes the package (it has the back cover and is plastic I believe) Apple's smart keyboard seems light enough to me.

at the same time that the smart keyboards is not selling massivly, there are probably a lot of people not buying it because the want the localized version (me for example would want a swedish version) right now I am using a solar powered logitech keyboard, but i would buy the ASK the same day it gets released in my language!

Like cheap costume jewelry, Apple's all about color. It's faster easier and cheaper to create. Why innovate, when splashing color on existing products is so easy...

Midnight blue would have been ideal for me but having a non-US keyboard is a much bigger deal.
The blue used for the Best Buy-exclusive Surface TypeCover would be what I'd like. But I agree, non-US keyboards are a much bigger deal. I couldn't imagine (being in the US) only having access to a non-US keyboard layout. I can sympathize.
