To be fair, I don't think anyone expects their device to be the fastest, most powerful at all times in the future.
While I know what you mean, there are some out there that money is a tool to be used and exploited. The quest to have the biggest/baddest/blingyiest thing is paramount, and being "smoked" by some other device or gadget just isn't something to be taken lightly.
Money. Is. No. Object.
Back in the early '90s I liked to drive fast and owned a Datsun 510 that was autocrossed regularly. The whole bit - suspension, fender flares, bigger block, modified head/exhaust, dual Mikuni-Solex carbs, custom cams, modified 5-speed trans from a Japanese Bluebird. I never lost a race.
I gave up that fun stuff, but kept the car and made it street legal, then went back to school. One of my classmates was a Kuwaiti with more money in the bank than you and I will see in our lifetimes - with a $50k-per-month "allowance". He drove a nasty Euro-spec 850i with some aftermarket tweaks. He was a seriously nice guy, too. I had a friend at PIR (Portland International Raceway), and arranged for a few 1/4-mile runs and some laps. My 510 left him in the rear view 6 out of 6 times. We swapped cars a couple of times, and my 510 was still blowing his then $100+k car away. Done, and done.
😛
The next Monday, the 850i was gone, and replaced by some US-spec Porsche. My friend from school and I never talked about how badly my ride left his spendy ride behind. He had to have the "best" of something, but I'm sure he didn't want to spend it in my strapped-down 510! Some of us just have to have the best!
Are there any Vertu iPhone 6Ss out there yet?
😀
