I'd go with them simply reinforcing the weak point or increasing the thickness a tiny bit.

No, it will not be thicker. They may add some reinforcement on the inside but best bet would that that the outside will look identical.

Get a 6 if you're worried about bending as it seems to only affect the 6+.

Or will Apple increase the thickness and keeps its form factor? I've decided to skip the 6 and wait for 6S in hopes of a sturdier phone.

I believe a "silent update" is not beyond the question. Different material or structural improvements (ie, higher grade Al, alloy, or structural support) could even be in the works as we speak. Sent from my iPad.

Sure it will be reinforced, I wouldn't be surprised if the reinforcements get added even sooner on the current devices within the next few months. The early customers will just miss out on this reinforcement and Apple will not say anything about it. I hope someone does a tear down on a iphone 6 plus that's produced a few months from now to see if they did. :D

If they add reinforcement, wouldn't they need to thicken the casing to accommodate it? Apple would need to thicken both 6/6+ to the 5/5S to prevent bending is what I imagine would happen.

Surely, a genius design engineer will figure out a way....

Oh yeah, I could see this happening too. Don't you think Apple should recall these phones?

I'd say it depends on the press. If they still can't shake this thing that has blown way out of proportion by 2015 iPhone update, they'll put some reinforcement on the inside, but it'll look the same.

This is much like the iPhone 4 dropped call problem, I think...

9 out of 10 million? It makes much more sense to just replace the EXTREMELY rare instances.

No. Not necessarily. They can add internal ridges to add structural strength, and they can use a different alloy for the aluminum.

Why would they? A tiny number of people had a bending issue and a guy posted a shady video on YouTube doing some handed test and all the sudden its a "GATE"?

I'm amazed how people now days believe anything internet does through at them!!

Tiny number now, none of us knows what will happen a few months from now....;)

Only if the issue becomes bigger. If in fact it truly is only a handful that bend, then there really isn't a need to fix a non issue. However, if they get a few thousand, then yes, as bendgate in the media will never end until Apple does something, because there would be new reports everyday of bent phones.

Yep, I think some people are not realizing the phone has been out for one week...a handful in one week could be significant if there is a handful each week...

I think there's some room to add supports along the edges. And even if there wasn't, I think Apple is more likely to make the battery slightly smaller than make the device thicker.

They have sold over 10,000,000 iPhone 6 and 6+, and have had 9 complaints.

In a months time, this will be forgotten about, much like the antenna issues with the iPhone 4.

Its more then 10 million iP6 and 6+ new iPhone's at the hands of users. That is a big compare to very small people who have the issue. There are other issues like dead pixels on displays etc who could be just as common.

So yeah... non of us knows what will happen a few months from now. If this was all BS (and I believe it was) time will dismiss it itself and will just be remembered as a bad silly joke.

I was thinking more or less when car manufacturers recall their cars. Even when a few are affected, all car owners are sent a recall notice.

If they do redesign, Apple could give early iphone 6 Plus adopters free applecare+, and for those who already purchased applecare+ a $100 gift card.

Just where inside are they going to add reinforcement? LOL!

There is no way!
