If Leopard and Longhorn ran on the same machine then that might make some sense. Because consumers looking to upgrade their OS ($20-300 purchase) would then have Leopard as a viable option. As of now, switching to the Mac OS requires also buying Mac hardware which carries a much higher price.

You would still have to buy a Mac to run OSX. That hasn't changed with the new transition to x86.
