My MacBook has always been a little stiff in the hinge. Like it feels very tough, but not in a good way. My girlfriend and I both have Late 2011 model MacBooks, and hers is much smoother than mine, and most of the ones at the Apple store are like this. Mine seems defected. I feel tension while adjusting the screen. Like its not one smooth motion, its more of a stuttered motion. Its very hard to explain in text. But more recently, It would start to creak when I was testing it. Like it resists and make a snappy noise when trying to adjust the screen. I provided a link to a video I filmed to further explain this. The snap thiing doesn't always occur, so I also recorded the video, so If i ever have to take it to the Apple Store and reproduce the sound, I can show them this video if I can't fully reproduced the sound there.

Will Apple repair this?

Here is my video:

Sometimes it is hard to tell if Apple will fix it or offer a replacement. For this, my guess would be no. But it is worth a shot.

Also, never shoot video in portrait, just wasted pixels ;)

Back up your hard drive, make a genius bar appointment and take it in to the Apple store now, before your warranty runs out. The clicking might be something like a cable catching, and it's not going to get better on its' own.

The only thing is, my hinge is ALWAYS stiff, but the hinge doesn't always make that snap sound. Just worried that it doesn't make the sound when I bring it in, and the genius won't detect a problem....

For this, my guess would be no.

Why do you say no?

I had a situation where my macbook hinge was actually loose. Meaning my screen will tilt back or forward a bit. I took it to the apple store and I got it replaced. If you have a laptop cover for your laptop, just remove it before bringing it in.
