Hi everyone,

My iPhone 5S has a hairline crack on the screen. It's still under apple's automatic 1 year warranty. If I take it to Apple Store will they replace the screen for free or does that not come under warranty? I don't have the purchase receipt.

I'd appreciate any advice. Many thanks :)

I believe the one-year warranty applies only to Apple-related problems, not user-made problems. For example, the lock button on my iPhone 5, after about a year, started getting stuck when pressed down. I was able to have my phone replaced for free via Apple, because it wasn't something I did; It was a problem caused by poor design on Apple's part. But since it's a crack you created... My guess is no.

Apple will be happy to replace your screen for $100 (I think? Maybe it's $200...), and if you have AppleCare, you'll also get a discount.
