Well, I figured that since my warranty is almost up, I may as well see if Apple will replace my white 3Gs that suffered from the cracked plastic back. I attached pictures of it so you guys can see.

So my question is, will Apple replace my phone based on what you see in the pictures or am I out of luck?

Some of the cracks look like the standard webbing (by the dock connector), but the others look like you dropped it. So based on the latter I would say no, but its worth a try.

natural occurring cracks - yes

cracks caused by fall - no

I took my iPhone 3G (white) in to Apple back in november because of some issues it was having, but when the Genius tried to replicate the issues it wouldn't work.

So he said that without being able to replicate the issue he wouldn't be able to do much, but he told me that he noticed that their were some cracks by the USB connector (like you) and he said Apple does consider than an issue and they will cover that, so he was able to switch it out for a new one (refurb).

If it shows signs of abuse aka drops, they will not replace it even if there are cracks NOT caused by abuse. It's worth a shot but don't hold your breath.

looks like it fell on that corner.....if thats the case then no they wont replace it, but really only the genius ur dealing with will decide, we can all say no and they will still do it and vice versa, doesn't hurt to try right? Worse thing they can do is say no, and ur in the same place ur in now, but at least try

My mother's white 3gs is cracking at the corner of the dock connector port. I would hope that they would replace it but there is no apple store close.
