Hi

I got airpods in dec 2016. The case will not hold charge. I can charge the airpods if i connect it to a usb-lightning adaptor.

i heard this issue is documented. i tried resetting the case by holding button for 15 seconds.

will apple replace charging case out of warranty or offer discount?

i have a genius appointment soon and want to know what my options are.

thanks.

Ended up buying a new set.

Genius offered a new case for $70. Not a great deal as replacement airpods are $69 each and there is no way to tell how many cycles the battery has been through using coconutbattery type app.

Most apple devices I have owned have batteries that last at least two years. I expected the airpods to die first as i charge them more often.

I have $40 LG Tone that are about 2 years old and still going.

As they are so old, they may say you need to replace the case at a charge.
