I think I will struggle to afford £1k sim free even next year wages just don’t rise by hundreds a year.

Will Apple continue to offer a cheaper version like the 8?

Surely if they don’t they will become a product for the Rich. I’m sure I read Tim Cook recently say Apple products are not just for the rich:

I personally feel the iPhone SE will always be there to fill the role. Maybe with both TouchID and FaceID... Apple needs to have phones that cover the gamut of rich and poor people. Though I would think it is more costly to maintain multiple lines of phones as opposed to having a smaller product line... though how you would keep the 8 and 8+ Pricing while going full size thin bezel display is an unknown at this point. Maybe a lower quality OLED? Or LCD? Then again Samsung has AMOLED for all the phones of their product line and they can make it cost effective too... it feels like it’s up in the air.

Long story short, I feel price differences in 2018 will be minimal if not the same compared to at least one model of whatever the successor to the 8 and 8+ is.

Apple still see the 8 as a premium phone.

Until they can mass produce the X at levels like they can the 8, I think there’ll be different price points for new models (vs old strategy of last years model covering the cheaper points)

Apple is never going to be cheap, but plans like the IPhone upgrade program and the iPhone payments plan so make it easier to avoid the initial outlay.

An IPhone 8 to an SE is a major downgrade. Anybody with a 6, 7,8 wouldn’t downgrade.

The rumours suggest new SE in March will only have a 4.2” screen anyway.

Surely Apple can bring face ID to the IPhone 8 design and call it IPhone 9?

I feel this wouldn’t be an issue at all if they just launched them both in closer proximity, but not jeopardizing 8 and 8 Plus sales I can understand.

Maybe this is some sick Apple experiment to see if more people will buy into their most expensive products compared to their cheaper series... if the latter is true it is almost certainly justifying Apple increasing the price for next years models.

If TouchID and FaceID will both be available, then it is almost certain that the iPhone X is not the true future of phones, it makes no sense at all to give more choice to people who paid less than their flagship phone.

The already added £100 onto the 8 price tag.
[doublepost=1506289660][/doublepost]Also what’s the chances of a cheaper X model some have suggested the price could drop not rise? Thoughts?

If you're struggling to afford a phone (and I happen to have no intention to spend 1k GBP on a phone) then it you most definitely shouldn't.

From what I can see the top of the line Apple phones are going to remain premium and have an >700 GBP price tag.

I just bought a 160 GBP Nokia 5 - whilst I'm getting a battery replaced on the iPhone - and I'm amazed how good Android on the Nokia is (with timely updates!) and how well Android works since I last played with it a few years ago. Also- ignore literally everything Tim says - he's a politician CEO that will say anything to keep the stock price rising, the man has zero integrity in my book (sure, sure they're still focussing on the Pros, the Mac and the Mac Mini....)
