I managed to order my black 32gb iPhone 5 through the app on my iPhone 4. It wouldn't let me change the shipping address to my physical address. I guess it gets the physical address information from att.

So my PO BOX mailing address is in there. Should I change my address to my physical address or will they mail it to my PO BOX?

I looked all over for an answer but couldn't find one.

It needs a signature to be delivered. No signature, no delivery.

It will be delivered by UPS or FedEx and they do not do PO boxes.

Well that's irritating. I wonder why it went through then.

Why does it seem like Apple can't pull off a successful launch?

It won't let me change my order yet. The funny part is, my address is correct in my Apple store app. I ordered my iPhone using my apple ID, but it's shipping with my wife's name because she's on the AT&T bill.

This is pretty stupid Apple.

So it's Apple fault that you didn't know they don't ship to PO Boxes?

I think YOU are confused:eek:

UPS and FEDEX have NEVER shipped to PO boxes, the USPS is kinda their competition! Please you had to know that a signature was required! WTF?

The answer is negative. Apple does not ship to a P. O. box because a signature is needed for the confirmation of delivery.

It's Apple's fault that they would not let me edit the shipping address. You obviously don't understand since you don't have a PO BOX.

When I tried to order the iPhone Apple took my mailing address info from AT&T and would not let me change it. Guessing it has to do with identity fraud or something.

I've dealt with issues like this before which is why I tried to change the information during the ordering process.

So, it wouldn't let you edit and you ordered anyway? Once again, how is this Apple's fault?

I don't know how else to explain this. How is it not apples fault. Was it ordered from their website? Yes. That means its their responsibility.

So, in the past, when other sites won't ship to PO boxes, they either reject the order, or ask for a physical address. Apple did neither of these. They didn't even state anywhere that they will not ship to a PO box.

So explain to me again, when apple populated the address field automatically and then refused to let me edit it, how it's my fault.

What would you have done?

What would I have done? If it wouldn't let me change it, I wouldn't have placed the order! You placed the order! How is that Apple's fault?

Look, you guys answered my question. As soon as APPLE LET'S ME CHANGE MY ADDRESS, I will.

In a situation like this, what would you have done? Cancelled your order?

Yeah guys, I am having the same issue, it's fine that they won't ship to a P.O., that makes sense, but the fact that they don't let you change what address you want it shipped to, is completely stupid as most businesses have a P.O. box. So just let them manually enter in the address.

When I attempted my iPhone order, my order was rejected because "Apple does not ship to a PO Box."

I went to ATT and tried to order there. Same message. Tried to change my billing address, but ATT did not recognize my physical address (common for us, as we don't appear in most databases). Had to wait till I could talk with ATT apperator who could enter the change for me. It's still wrong, as USPS doesn't deliver mail to our physical address, only to our PO Box.

What is odd and frustrating is my past several upgrades have gone without a hitch, so someone at ATT seems to have muttled the handling of PO Boxes in the Billing (without checking for a physical address elsewhere).

So, I do not think it is Apple's issue, but likely the carrier's, as that is the database Apple was referencing.

Well I'm glad I didn't take your advice and cancel my order.

I got an email from apple stating that they cannot ship to a PO box and wanted to know my physical address. So I replied with my physical address. Then I checked on their website to see how my border was doing. It said action required and to call them about option 2. I called and their system is voice automated so I'm not sure how you choose option 2.

So I called apple over the weekend and they told me everything is going to be fine and the system is overloaded. My address had been updated and it takes a while for their systems to catch up.

Well I decided to give them another call this morning because I saw a thread on here that said several people were having the same issue. She told me my order was on hold and she's glad I called because I was one of the lucky ones that got a phone for the 21st.

What she did was verify that I had agreed to AT&T's terms and conditions, and that my updated physical address was correct. Then she got a senior manager to remove the blocks. Immediately my order changed to preparing for shipment.

So, call 18006762775
Give them your order number (W123456789)
Ask them to have a senior manager remove blocks

Next time you may want to do a little research. Since the iPhone launched Apple has never shipped to PO Boxes. If you simply read through the replies you will know the majority of people know this. Instead of getting angry at Apple or others, you may want to look in the mirror and simply say "Agh, I screwed up".

Too many people these days want to point fingers instead of take responsibility for their own mistakes.

God, this is irritating. APPLE WOULD NOT LET ME CHANGE MY ADDRESS. The apple lady told me it is a glitch in the apple store app on the iPhone.

Your local Post Office has a physical address, and you should be able to use that address with the BOX # associated to it. Not sure though if Fed Ex or UPS delivers to it, but Fed Ex Smartpost does.

this is how mine is right now and apple has yet to say anything to me about it. i called twice to have it changed and they said they cant change my address. i even tried when it was processing on apple.com thru the edit menu and i couldn't get it changed. I've had apple.com stuff go to my POBOX before but i'd rather have it delivered here to my home

Honestly, I probably would have called Apple or AT&T and tried to place the order that way. Dealing with a person might (repeat, MIGHT) have allowed for more leniency in the process.

I am going to have to agree with the OP. This is apples fault.. Even if it pulls the information from your att account I have used websites that when you type in PO BOX and try to send it to one it is picked up and says "sorry we do not ship to PO Box.

So not entirely his fault. It should see it's a PO Box and not let you ship till you update the address in at&t which can be done and pulled into apple in a matter of minutes.

Best bet it to wait till it is processing and take out the PO BOX or call apple

I used to to this as well but I would just put B#410. easy work around

This is entirely your own fault. It's clearly stated that you can't use a PO Box.
