I know they are now only selling the 8 gig model of iPhone 4.....but my 32 gig has a dodgy sim tray and needs a replacement........do you think they can still replace it with same size model??? *scared*

Seriously Apple often gives you current models of products that need replacing when they've stopped manufacturing them. I know people who have had Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros replaced with the new Core i7 models under warranty.

If your warranty has time to run though, I'd wait a month or two to give Apple time to clear out stock of the models they have discontinued. :)

Mac replacements are SIGNIFICANTLY different than iPhone replacements. They consistently carry replacements for old iPhones that are still under warranty.

You'll get an iPhone 4 32GB in the color you currently have.

This. When I was there a while back, they still had the iPhone 3G in stock for replacement.

The policy isn't different to the Macs. But yes, as I already said, if they still have iPhone 4 32GB models around that's what you'll get. If they don't have a 32GB replacement, you'll get the latest 4S model at 32GB.

They will still keep a small number of the iPhone 4 in all capacities for these situations.
I think personally it's very unlikely they will upgrade you to the current model as a replacement. They have only within the last few weeks stopped making that model, so they will still have plenty of them to use for replacements.

Why don't you call your local store and ask. It is possible they might elect to repair your sim card tray instead.

nah i've been in twice (wanted 2nd opinion) and they said they have to take it completely apart to fix the problem i have which needs a replacement.

i may go back in 4 months time, they may have run out of old stock by then and i may try and be cheeky and get the 4S instead lol....if not i'll just hold off till the next one then.

You're flat out wrong, the policy is COMPLETELY different for Macs. If they don't have yours in stock they work with you to schedule a mail replacement. They will NEVER give you a newer model iPhone. NEVER.

I had a bet that I wouldn't bold four words in one thread - I win.

I need a replacement for my top phone speaker next to the front-facing camera. I can't hear anything on phonecalls unless I plug in headphones or using speakerphone. Almost certain this would qualify as a replacement, but I feel like I'd ruin my chances by going to the Apple Store on 4S Launch day for something other than a 4S lol.

Never say never. In some (and I mean very very few) circumstances, iPhone 3G customers were given 3Gs's.

But that was 4 models ago. There's no chance you'd get a 4s upgrade like that for a few years.

That's only if the current model is out of stock in store and the warehouse is on back order. (I think that's the reason)

The line is just for iPhone 4s customers. The genius bar may have appointments open, and you'd skip the line. Check for appointment times. Geniuses and creatives generally do personal setups on launch day to allot for more specialists selling phones. The appointments maybe later in the day, but I'm sure they'll have some open.
