Do you think apple will try to pursue the big labels to merge apple music and itunes store catalogs in the future? I understand that the labels didn't want this for the initial release but apple probably wants one unified catalog. They probably are not happy with the frustration the users sees. Would have taken too many hours of contact discussions probably. When apple music was presented my initial thought was that there will be only one catalog. Anyway.

The best that can happen now is that artists starts ditching old fashion labels and sign on directly with apple, spotify, google etc and these companies distribute for the artist to their own platform and to others - preferable giving more icing of the cake to the artist if tracks are played through the service they signed on with them self.

I can even imagine festivals and concerts being held in the name of apple music in the future with artists contacted by apple.
