hi, i want to replace my iphone 6s's battery at apple store. I am on ios 10 and i don't really want to update to ios 12. If i request them not to update my phone during the replacement will they turn down me?
thanks

Remember if they replace your phone, the new phone won’t be on iOS10. Plus I don’t think you can restore a phone with a newer version of iOS from an older version of iOS backup so you may run into issues with your data..

Not true. You can restore from backup from an older iOS. You can’t restore from newer to older.

Meaning you can’t restore a backup from iOS 12 onto a device with iOS 11/10

thanks ! but not to worry i am only replacing the battery for the cheap usd29 deal till this december.

My son was replacing battery at Apple store. Something went wrong and his old phone (with new battery) did not boot. They gave him refurbished phone at no cost. So, even if you are "only replacing battery", you can end up with refurbished phone - with current iOS. That's why the warning from others.

I’m saying if something goes wrong, you’ll receive a phone that’s on a newer version of iOS
